"The heart of TEL is people -- it is not a
program; it is people."

TEL-China is actively recruiting missionaries.
We are bringing in short-term
teams to make an evangelistic impact. But more than
that, we are asking God for full-time, life-long, committed
laborers to help evangelize and train others in China's vast
harvest field. TEL missionaries must be
willing to develop permanent relationships with the Chinese,
winning their trust by learning the language, understanding
the culture and living among them. We also need others
to join in with prayer
and support, so that our international teams can be free
to reproduce spiritually.
To fulfill this goal, we offer training in three areas:
personal growth, ministry and language.
TRAINING: Jesus called his twelve disciples
to come and be "with Him"(Mark 3:14). In this
way the disciples had many more opportunities to learn from
Him. We call this the "with him" principle
and use it in our training. Whenever possible, trainees
and trainers live together in a training home and minister
alongside each other.
DEVELOPMENT: The training home is a passive
environment conducive to personal spiritual growth as older
Christians model a well-rounded Christian life. Personal
devotional times, hands-on ministry, prayer, challenging Bible
studies, and simply living with others actively sharpens all
"as iron sharpens iron" (Proverbs 27:17).
MINISTRY: Ministry consists of making friends
for the purpose of sharing the Gospel, then teaching new
Believers the basics of the Christian life. Most of our
ministry is conducted in training homes throughout China,
using the Timothy Training as our
source-material. At first, an experienced staff member
will teach trainees the ministry as they work closely
alongside him or her. As trainees acquire the necessary
skills, we challenge them to develop their own ministry.
LANGUAGE: We will help trainees acquire
language skills appropriate for their term of service.
OUR COMMITMENT: At all times we desire to seek
what is best for our trainees. We consider it a privilege
to train them in ministry and to help them follow God’s leading
for their life. In whatever way God may ultimately lead,
we desire always to be a resource for their spiritual growth
and trust they will continue to see us as such.
